Herbal shampoo/ conditioner that is natural and chemical free is the basis of bouncy locks and healthy scalp. Used in tropics for ages where people are known for their beautiful hair.
This powder formulation of pure dried and sieved amla berries, reetha nuts and shikakai pods acts as a hair conditioner or hair rinse. Widely used in India to nourish hair and prevent greying of hair, this herbal hair masque cleans the scalp and gently conditions hair from tip to follicle.
Soap nuts are a berry species that naturally contains soap. They grow on the Sapindus mukorossi (Soap Berry) tree in the Indian peninsula. The natural soap found in these berries is called saponin that is widely used as a hair cleanse in India.
Shikakai or Acacia concinna comes from the shrub-like tree that grows in central India and the pods are ground to make the powder, which is often used to make a slightly acidic shampoo. Shikakai powder can cleanse the hair and scalp without stripping it of natural oils because of the low pH levels
Amla, Indian gooseberry or Phyllanthus emblica is a staple of Ayurvedic hair care routine.
For the glow hair care mask, mix one teaspoon of the powder with water, yogurt or oil and apply onto hair. Let stay for 20 minutes. Rinse off with a gentle shampoo (if using yogurt or oil) or just water to revitalize hair. I usually steep the powder in water, apply it for 15 minutes in scalp and hair and rinse off the residue but if it still feels gritty, use shampoo after use.
Comes in a plastic jar of 4 ounces. Enough for 6 applications. Contains hand ground, dried and sieved amla, shikakai, reetha powder.
